Traditional Wedding Favors

Guest favors are one of the traditions that go along with weddings as a sort of thank you for the guests and there are several that are considered “traditional” themselves. Or you can start with a traditional favor and personalize it for your guests.

1. Consider edible traditional favors such as cookies or candy. You can have them personalized with the bride and grooms name or wedding date or even with the guest’s name. Perhaps a chocolate bar that doubles as a place card setting with the guests name on it.

2. Making small sachet bags and filling them with different types of candy are a good idea, use your wedding colors when picking out the material for the bags and accent them with coordinating ribbon. You can even have the ribbon personalized with the wedding date, the bride and grooms name or “thank you” on it.

3. You may also opt to have the favors coincide with the season. The favors can be used for the following theme :

i) if you are having a Spring wedding consider placing small bouquets at the guests seat or have several small vases personalized with the bride and grooms name, the date of the wedding or even their name. You can put a single flower in them with a thank you note tied around it. You can also add a small butterfly to make it look gorgeous. They can use this type of gift over and over.

ii) Having a winter wedding? Consider miniature stockings, made out of white felt or satin and personalized with their name or the couples names and wedding date. You can include some type of candy inside the stocking and place it on the guest’s place settings. Snowflakes will give it a traditional elegant feel as well. Perhaps you can place etched snowflake candleholders at each place setting or even snowflake shaped coasters with the bride and grooms names, or wedding date.

iii) If you are planning an autumn wedding consider soap petals in the shape and color of fall leaves. Or small dried flower bouquets tied with a ribbon and place in a small vase and attach a thank you card to it as well. Small tea light candles in fall colors or floating candles in a small bowl at each place setting.

iv) A summer wedding can be gorgeous and you can choose favors to coordinate with it. Decorate small picture frames with shells and insert a picture of the guest in it. You can place small floating seashell candles in a bowl or perhaps drink coasters with a shell or nautical theme.

Whether you stay with tradition or a little out of it is not what matters, the fact that you tool the time to choose these favors will tell your guests how much you appreciate them.
